Dr van Duuren did her a BMedSci, MBChB and specialised as a rheumatologist and at the University of Pretoria. She also completed her MSc (Sports Medicine). She works in private practice as a rheumatologist at the Jacaranda Hospital, Pretoria.
Fields of interest are the inflammatory arthritis’ and general rheumatology, musculoskeletal ultrasound, osteoporosis and sports medicine. She is involved in various pharmaceutical trials in rheumatology and has a research interest in early arthritis.
She is involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching at the Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University, University of Pretoria and in the private sector in South Africa and abroad.
She is the president of the South African Rheumatism and Arthritis Association (SARAA) and a Council member and regional chairman of the Arthritis Foundation of South Africa. She is a board member of the Faculty of Consulting Physicians of South Africa and served on the local organising committee for the World Congress of Internal Medicine that took place in Cape Town 2018.
